Another cartoon angers the muslim population?

Well, think about it this way: this person (who was exercising the right of free speech) published a controversial cartoon in a mostly Muslim nation. You've heard stories about Coptic Christians and the violence against them by the Muslims. All I can say is that you are right in some ways- all religions consider themselves to be above every other religion. I don't know if I would be angry at this had it been directed towards the Jewish population, but all I can say is that if I lived in the Middle East and I was a religious minority, I would not be publishing cartoons like this.
